Giving Older Adults a Stronger Voice
Advocacy is at the heart of everything we do. The Seniors Take Action Coalition works to ensure the voices of older adults are heard, respected, and reflected in the decisions that shape life in Richmond County. We believe seniors deserve meaningful opportunities to influence the policies, programs, and services that affect their health, independence, safety, and quality of life.
Our role is to listen, identify emerging issues, and work collaboratively with community partners and decision-makers to create practical solutions that help older adults thrive.
Listening & Advocating
Older adults know their communities and understand the challenges they face. We provide opportunities for seniors to raise concerns, share ideas, and tell us what would make Richmond County a better place to age.
What we hear through our outreach helps guide our advocacy and priorities. Whether the issue involves transportation, healthcare, accessibility, housing, social isolation, community services, or another concern affecting older adults, we work to bring those perspectives forward and encourage practical solutions.
What We Advocate For
Our advocacy is guided by the needs and priorities of seniors in our communities. We work to advance initiatives that promote:
Age-friendly communities where everyone can participate fully, regardless of age or ability.
Accessible transportation that helps seniors remain independent and connected.
Affordable, appropriate housing that supports aging in place.
Accessible healthcare and community services close to home.
Social inclusion to reduce isolation and strengthen community connections.
Safe, welcoming public spaces that are accessible to all.
How We Advocate
Effective advocacy begins with listening. We gather feedback from older adults through community conversations, events, surveys, and partnerships with seniors' clubs and local organizations. We then bring those perspectives forward by:
Engaging with municipal, provincial, and community leaders.
Collaborating with healthcare and service providers.
Supporting research and evidence-informed planning.
Raising public awareness of issues affecting older adults.
Encouraging seniors to participate in community decision-making.
Our goal is not simply to identify challenges—it is to help create solutions through respectful dialogue and collaborative action.
Your Voice Matters
Every conversation helps shape a stronger future for seniors in Richmond County. If there is an issue affecting you, your family, or your community, we want to hear about it. Your experiences help guide our advocacy and ensure our work reflects the real needs of older adults.
Together, we can build a community where every senior is heard, valued, and empowered to age with dignity.
