Communication & Outreach

Staying connected. Listening to seniors. Strengthening our communities.

Community is at the heart of the Seniors Take Action Coalition. Our outreach work helps us stay connected with older adults throughout Richmond County, understand the issues affecting their everyday lives, and ensure their voices are part of the conversations and decisions that matter.

We believe meaningful change begins by listening. Through community events, conversations, educational opportunities, seniors’ clubs, local organizations, and partnerships, we create opportunities for older adults to share their experiences, identify challenges, learn about available supports, and stay connected with their communities.

Connecting Seniors with Their Community

Staying informed and connected can make a tremendous difference in a person’s quality of life. We work to make information about programs, services, activities, resources, and community opportunities easier for older adults and their families to find and understand.

Our communication and outreach efforts help connect seniors with what is happening across Richmond County while also helping community organizations better understand and respond to the needs of an aging population.

Two of the key ingredients of an age-friendly community are providing opportunities for seniors to be socially active and to ensure that information is easy to find and easy to understand. Our efforts to bring older adults together include organizing conferences and working with seniors’ clubs to provide programs and educational opportunities.

We have an active Facebook group with over 1200 members where we share important information on health and wellness, community activities and grants and services available for seniors. We produce our monthly calendar and our weekly calendar which airs daily on Telile. Our newsletter Better with Age is circulated widely with hundreds of views each edition.

Get Involved

Communication and outreach works best when the community participates. If you are an older adult with an idea or concern, a family member looking for information, an organization serving seniors, or someone who simply wants to help make Richmond County more age-friendly, we want to hear from you.

Connect with us, share what matters to you, and help us continue building communities where everyone can age well.
